She does have a little bit of a belly, and this dress hung and accentuated that. A bigger size would not have helped. It is just the style of the dress. The tie does help to hide it if it stays in place. However, if it's tied too tight, it just adds to it. This style is meant for skinny girls. The dress is very soft, though, and my daughter likes it.
